Our Mission
CAL’s mission is to promote a lifelong love of learning. The program offers in-community courses and classes on a wide range of topics to residents of the Heritage Eagle Bend community at a minimal cost. Courses vary in length from 4 weeks to 12 weeks in two semester length terms: Fall and Winter/Spring. Single session classes called Pop Ups are also offered at no charge. All courses and classes are facilitated on a voluntary basis by residents of the community. The program is managed by a team of community volunteers who work year round to ensure its success.
All About Our Learning Program
-
Courses of study are generally offered in two hour sessions on different days of the week during a semester term and most take place at the Heritage Eagle Bend clubhouse.

-
Courses are developed and facilitated by resident volunteers within the Heritage Eagle Bend community who have skills, expertise, or special interests in a broad range of areas and who are willing to share what they know with their fellow residents. A formal course proposal form must be submitted before any course can be approved and offered. All courses are approved by CAL's curriculum group prior to being scheduled. No academic credit is awarded for CAL courses: they are not part of any college or university program.

- A $10 registration fee is charged for each course. The fee covers administrative costs, some materials, and equipment expenses. No salaries or stipends are paid to volunteers to manage the program or to residents to volunteer to facilitate courses. Excess money is used to meet program needs and fund special events.

-
A registration software program called CourseStorm is used to accomplish course registrations. Those who wish to register for courses must open an account in CourseStorm, create a password, provide contact information and credit card information which is kept on file in the CS system which is safe and secure. Once an account is created, the CS user can log in to the CS website and browse the course catalog when it is published two weeks prior to the Kickoff date for any semester. A CS user can register for a course when the registration period for a semester is opened on the Kickoff date. The $10 course enrollment fee is automatically charged to the credit card kept on file when the account is opened.
